This coffee is a real comforting, classic coffee. It’s very yummy, sweet and balanced. We found punchy notes of caramel and sugar, with a soft acidity. Think malt notes and the creamy sensation you get from Werther’s Originals. This makes a delicious espresso-based drink, you won’t be able to get enough of this as a flat white.
|Varietal||Red Bourbon, Pacas, Pacamara|
Damn, it feels good to be back – and what a coffee to get us into the swing of things again. You might be sitting there thinking, am I having a Déjà vu? Yes, you are. Don’t worry. We’ve had a coffee from this farm before, but we released it into The Contemporary tier last year, it was wild.
This coffee comes from a farm owned by Federico Pacas, who invented his own variety of coffee – kinda cool right? Federico’s farm is called Santa Petrona. His grandmother bought the original plot of land back in 1927 where she planted Bourbon trees. Her daughter (Federico’s mother) divided the farm into three parcels which each of her three sons inherited when she retired. Federico inherited Finca Santa Petrona which he now runs with his son.
This farm is truly amazing. From preserving ecology and biodiversity to cultivation and harvesting, processing and sustainability, Finca Santa Petrona scores 10/10 in every category. It’s a model for exceptional modern speciality coffee production.
Ahh, and it tastes incredible too – a real comforting Classic. This coffee is very yummy, sweet and balanced. We found punchy notes of caramel and sugar, with a soft acidity. Think malt notes, and the creamy sensation you get from Werther’s Originals. Ok, we’ll stop now. It’s just great. Oh and it makes a great espresso-based drink, you won’t be able to get enough of this as a flat white.
