Our entire roastery team selected this coffee to feature as our fundraiser for the start of 2025. We're raising money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a suicide prevention charity that helps anyone struggling with life find hope and a reason to stay. We all know that a coffee and a chat can go a long way, and sometimes starting the conversation over a coffee, can make it that bit easier. It's always OK to reach out, and it's always OK to talk. This seriously yummy Brazil is perfect to share with someone who needs it.
Helisson Afonso da Silva is a young Brazilian coffee farmer following in the footsteps of his father, Sebastiao, who won first place in the 2015 Cup of Excellence Naturals competition. Our Head of Coffee Joe visited Helisson on his farm in summer 2024 and was blown away by both the farm and the quality of his coffee.
This coffee is a real delight. Think double-decker chocolate bar with heaps of nougat, hazelnut and caramel. It's balanced with a soft vanilla-like sweetness and a juicy yellow plum hit. With milk it's full-on milk chocolate and pecan but also works incredibly well without milk. In Joe's words, "good coffee that".
