The Uprising

This coffee is a celebration of the long-term producer relationships we’ve built over the years. Each season we select the best our supply chain has to offer, focusing on lots that are a little more complex, fruitier and just that bit more special. In the cup you’ll find notes of candied peel, dried fig and sticky toffee with a citrusy acidity, jammy body and a sweet pudding-like finish. With milk it has a lingering sweetness with flavours of dried apricot and butterscotch - rich and sweet with gentle dried fruit notes up front.

Honduras, El Chollo
Finca El Chollo is owned by Carlos Mejia and named after his nickname, Chollo. Coffee has been part of his life from the beginning and he’s now carrying on a five-generation family tradition. This isn’t the kind of coffee you’d typically expect from Honduras. It brings a rich sticky sweetness to the blend and adds real depth to the cup.

Peru, Max Rupay
In 2024 we visited Peru to meet some of the producers behind Velo de Novia. Among them was Maximo Rupay who welcomed us to his farm in the mountains of northern Cajamarca. He was humble and deeply passionate about coffee farming. We cupped his coffee while we were there and it really stood out. We knew we had to buy it as an individual lot. His coffee usually goes into the community blend we buy for VDN with around 20 other producers. Buying it separately is a way to support Max directly and make a more meaningful impact through our sourcing.

Ethiopia, Guji Natural
This is a much-loved single origin we've stocked for years and we’ve wanted to feature it in a blend for some time. It comes from the Guji Zone in southern Ethiopia, a region known for producing some of the best coffees in the world. Seven smallholder farmers deliver ripe cherries to Bette Buna's central mill known as Megadu Farm where this natural lot is carefully processed.
