This coffee is omni roast.
If you’re a die-hard Roastworks fan then you’ll remember that last year – Ollie, our wholesale account manager competed in the UK Barista Championships. Well, he’s back at it. And this time? He made it to the semi-finals. This is the incredible coffee he used in his routine and we just had to share it.
We sourced this coffee through Bette Buna – long-time partners and the people behind our Ethiopia Guji Natural, grown on their family farm in the heart of Guji. What really sets them apart is how they show up for their community. A few years back they started working more closely with a group of local smallholders – including neighbours Gash Syoum and Gash Sentayehu. Both are deeply committed to quality and grow incredible coffee. But more than that they run their farms with care, kindness and real respect for the people around them – something you rarely see in remote areas where life can be tough. So Bette Buna made a simple promise – if they kept growing coffee this way they’d keep buying their cherries year after year. They now produce stunning natural anaerobic lots – and the results in the cup speak for themselves.
This one’s wild. Full-on ripe strawberries, blueberries, rosehip and a flicker of orange bitters. It’s sweet, juicy and sugary – but not in a way that feels pushed or artificial. With milk it softens into something creamy and nostalgic – like fruit yoghurt, brown sugar and the flaky raisin-rich edge of an Eccles cake. Seriously moreish.
