STORY

This is a journey to the dark side. Two sustainably sourced coffees roasted a little hotter and longer for more body and intensity. Grown by two speciality coffee producers in Brazil and Guatemala who dedicate their time to producing the sweetest, highest quality coffees.

Brazil Legender Sítio Trio

Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer. Most of it comes from vast industrial farms built for volume – meaning smaller farms can get overlooked and undervalued. We source differently. We work with smaller farms (sitios) because that's where the best coffee is, and where our money makes a real difference.

This coffee comes from three small family-run farms – Sítio Cafundo, Sítio Tripui and Barreiro – in the municipality of Campestre, sitting at around 1,250m above sea level. They're part of the Legender series, a Brazil-based project built on a simple idea: the country's best coffee comes from small family farms, not industrialised mega farms. Shared values on sourcing matter to us, and Legender are exactly the kind of partner we want to work with.

What makes this meaningful is the relationship behind it. Over five years, Legender have worked closely with these farmers –
building trust, improving processing and paying quality premiums well above local market rates. Without that, this coffee could disappear into a regional blend, unnoticed. That kind of patient, consistent work is how you get better coffee and better livelihoods.

The coffee itself is naturally processed – the whole cherry is dried slowly before the fruit is removed, giving it that characteristic sweetness. Think caramel, dark chocolate and a syrupy smoothness that anchors our blend beautifully.

Guatemala Sisterhood
Grown entirely by women in Huehuetenango (pronounced way-way-teh-NAN-go) – one of Guatemala's most iconic coffee growing regions where 80% of the local population relies on coffee to make a living. In coffee, women do a huge chunk of the work but often miss out on land, training, funding and decision-making power. Primavera – who we buy this coffee through is changing that. They work directly with smallholder women farmers, paying premiums for top-grade coffees (84–85 points, if you’re counting) with full traceability back to the farm. The extra money goes towards workshops that give these women even more tools to grow, thrive and lead.

FAQ’S

THINGS PEOPLE ASK US

IS YOUR PACKAGING RECYCLABLE?

Our 200g and 1kg bags are made from recyclable LDPE (plastic #4). Check with your local authority for kerbside collection or recycle at major supermarkets. Our Nespresso-compatible aluminium capsules are also fully recyclable through household recycling or local collection points.

WHAT ROAST LEVELS ARE YOUR COFFEES?

We roast most coffee to an omni profile, which means it suits all brew methods while keeping the unique flavour of each coffee. The exceptions are The Truth, Uprising and The Bold. The Truth and Uprising are roasted for espresso, so they are more developed and soluble. The Bold is roasted darker to bring out richer characteristics alongside the coffee’s flavour.

WHAT GRIND SIZE DO YOU NEED?

Grind size can be tricky as adjusting it helps you get the best extraction. We know not everyone wants to invest in a grinder or fuss with settings. So we’ve simplified options with recommended brew methods:

Filter ground – cafetiere, pour-over filter and long brewed Aeropress
Espresso ground – short brewed Aeropress, moka pot and home espresso machines
