This is anything but your average Kenyan and we're all for it.
Produced by members of the Ndaroini Factory in Nyeri County, this coffee comes from around 3,200 smallholder farmers growing coffee at elevations of up to 1,800 metres. The washing station recently began operating independently and continues the region's reputation for producing some of Kenya's most exciting coffees.
The farmers grow a mix of SL-28, SL-34, Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties, all processed using traditional washed methods. Cherries are sorted, fermented overnight and dried slowly on raised beds. The station also uses an eco-pulper to reduce water use, while the leftover cherry skins are returned to farms and turned into fertiliser.
This is a Kenya with a different side to show off.
We're getting all the sweets. Lime sweets, rhubarb and gummy bears. Bright acidity, loads of sweetness and the kind of cup that keeps you going back for another brew.
